Bob Dylan and Neil Young On the Same Billing

dylan-young-crop

We do try not to speculate around here too often. But sometimes it's just too much fun and we can't resist.

When Electric Roulette mentioned that Bob Dylan and Neil Young are on the same billing at a Portugal festival this summer we got to thinking: what if?

The 3 day Optimus Alive! festival is at Passeio Marítimo de Algés, Oeiras in Lisbon, Portugal and Dylan will headline the Festival on Friday July 11. Neil Young is set to headline the three-day event's closing night on Saturday July 12.

Neil will be at Bospop in the Netherlands on 07-11. But Bob's tour ends on 7/11 leaving him free on 7/12.

Well, we can only wish for a Bob & Neil hookup. And if we were in Portugal this summer, we'd definitely try and get a ticket for this one. If for no other reason than to see if Neil upstaging Dylan is a myth.

Afterall, it's not like Bob Dylan and Neil Young have anything in common anyway.

Dylan would never collaborate with him on stage again. Dylan doesn't stray from the norm during his shows anymore. I saw him a few years ago, and Clapton showed up to play with the opener. People were hoping he'd come out and play with Bob, but alas, it didn't happen.

I can't imagine an onstage collaboration would be anymore entertaining than a backwoods cock fight.

That's hilarious. A cockfight. It appears that Neil doesn't stray much either.

What I would find entertaining to hear them cover THEIR MOST CHERISHED SONGS IN THE UNIVERSE. Or maybe a personal favorite song that the other one wrote ...

I wonder if that's possible. I wonder what Bob's personal favorite of Neil repetoire and Neil's favorite that Bob wrote.

Bob's said in the past that his favorite (or one of his favs) is "A man needs a maid" but I'm not sure how long ago he said that.

hmmm, shall I go to Lisbon on the off chance?

No, I don't think so. (and I do go to Portugal quite often - 3 times so far this year)

I'm far more tempted to see who the very special guests are at Glastonbury - Saturday 28th June - right between Neil's shows in Spain and Ireland.

And the Hop Farm should be fun. Well, should be a top weekend; over to Belgium on Friday for the Werchter show, relax with a few beers on Saturday and then back to Kent on Sunday for Vince Power's Hop Farm effort which with his record should be a good one.

See you on the ferry.

How 'bout Leonard Cohen playing with Dylan? Could definitely happen, their schedules match up perfectly in late May.
