The official release date for this set isn't until June 2nd. MP3 files will not be available until then at the earliest.

Thanks again for producing a great set, and being there for the fans.
QUESTION: On my PS3, I use a wireless connection. For some reason, I cannot get the Timeline to connect to the internet. I quit out of the disc, go to the main menu, and sure enough it is connected. Internet, Playstation Store, Playstation Network all work fine. I go back to the timeline, click on the red square to download the new updates, and there is nothing there -- no pushpins, nothing. Says it can't find an internet connection. I don't have the option of a wired connection to the PS3, is there any way around this?

Go over to the PS3 SETTINGS (the toolbox icon)
Scroll down to NETWORK SETTINGS
You can alter and test your wireless connection there.

Same thing for Carson. It's not player or connection.
Yes, everything is saved to your disc, but without internet to the server, the content won't appear visually.

Hi AG and everyone who knows this is somewhere.
Just an observation - I think the audiophiles at the SH forum are more inclined to stir things up, admittedly often not very civilly, because they're, you know, audiophiles. Don’t always have the best interpersonal skills !) And in their own strange way care about this stuff as much as Neil. Plus, lots of people who don't post still benefit from the exchange. Not an excuse, just an explanation from this side of the fence.
Beyond that, consider the compounded irony of Archives being released at a time when many are taking a big financial hit. So, suddenly, many who want to meet Neil half way find, to hear the Archives at their best, need to invest a considerable sum in the Archives themselves… Blu Ray Player….Hi Def TV... new Speakers… I mean for the last ten years I think many presumed this would be bunch of cd’s. Again, not a criticism, just trying to articulate some of the frustration that fans might be feeling now, even as they’re genuinely glad that Neil is pioneering in such a transcendent manner. But, you know, it’s not like Neil has never been criticized, rightly or wrongly, before. He just keeps going – that’s why he’s Neil. That’s why we love him and sometimes, uh, don’t love him so much.
The day Neil makes everyone happy is probably not a day when he’s looking forward.
Finally, we all realize you’re here as sort of a public service in supporting this endeavor. It’s probably to everyone’s benefit that Neil has at least some indirect interaction with his fans, especially now that the conventional record company models are breaking down. In fact, I’m kind of surprised he’s still with Warners and not distributing this on his own… in any event, my point was: having the dubious priviledge of dealing with some of Neil’s peers who seem to disdain their fans, if not take them for granted, I’m am heartened he seems to be listening through your exchange with us.

Got a couple of questions for you if you don't mind. I believe this was asked but it went unanswered:
Why were six tracks included on the Fillmore Show, but not the entire set list? Were the other songs lost or unusable for this release?
I just ordered Archives from Amazon.com; will my box set come with the mp3 card to download from Neilyoung.com or is that an exclusive if you buy the box set directly from Neil's site?

I got the Samsung BDP-3600 last night and tested the Preview BR disc and works, very well. It has wifi included plus 1 GB of memory and all kinds of outputs on the back to connect to your Video/Audio devices in the congiguration that best suites you. A little pricey but I figure I'm paying more for the Wifi/Memory and the fact that its current and won't need to be replaced in a couple years. Plus my girlfriend digs the opportunity to watch Netflix on it!

Just want to thank you and Neil for all you've done concerning the Archives. Most of us believers were positive the Archives would be released eventually so for myself I began saving every little bit of cash over a year ago. I did odd jobs along with my other two jobs just to have the blu-ray experience . So if there's a will there's a way. Thanks again.

As I've been working in a metal working plant for over 30 years, I decided that the DVD audio will be a sufficient listening experience for my mp3 class ears. I've only posted once here in the last few years, but wanted to thank you for all the hard work and effort you've put into this project. I am on the edge of my ears waiting for my copy! Anyway, not being a rabid rustie, a techie, or a rabble rouser, I thought I'd toss a few off the wall questions to you. First up...how many NY earworms have you been infected with over the years of putting this thing together? What are the low and high points of putting this thing together? What was the most exciting previously unknown recording to turn up while compiling Archives 1? Can I really and finally throw away that scratchy low fidelity mp3 of Sultan/Aurora that I purloined off of NAPSTER many years ago? Did you see the near mint copy that just went for over $2700 on ebay? Was it a tough call on what live version of Heart of Gold to put on the set? Is there in fact a third soundboard of NY and CH 1970 tour, the first being the Fillmore and the second being the Cincinnati Music Hall? Should I have kept my NY and CH Altec Lansing poster instead of selling it for a pittance? Ooops, that's not an Archives question! How many hours would you estimate you have put into this endeavor? After all these years, how does Comrie Smith feel about his elevation into musical history? Did Neil buy him a car like he was hoping? Sorry, that last one was rude. Do you plan on taking a vacation from all of this and maybe put on some soothing Montavani? How do I fix the stroboscope that controls the timing on my old turntable. Everything sounds like that original Riverboat tape before you fixed it! Did you ever find that Mr. Soul acetate that Neil was looking for? Well, time to put on some of my old low definition Neil and slop down a pint of Ben & Jerry's! I hope you take these questions as tongue in cheek! It's been a long time waiting for the Archives and I am on vacation for the next week...guess where I'm going?

There are folks like myself who've been fans for 35-40 years, and we appreciate that the wait for the Archives has not been in vain for us old timers.

AG- I'm inclined to believe that the priorities for inclusion on the Archives are simple.
1) Is it needed to tell the story?
2) Is it in the best sound quality possible?
If the master was lost or damaged or compromised in any way, it didn't make the "Main Program".
Without givin any specific examples, do I have it about right? Knowing what I know about the team I would think that arguments such as "do we want to pay for the rights" are not a factor....

i've seen the youtube vid of the dude opening the archives box. he shows the timeline. now, is this the entire timeline or just 66-72, the era of archives I?

Has anyone who pre-ordered from Amazon gotten an e-mail that they've shipped? Mine isn't even being prepared for shipment. I tried going to DVD Planet and just ordering there and canceling Amazon but their site appears to be down! I can't believe I'm stressing so much. I just waaaaaaaaannnnnt.

Are the team aware that the CD version of the Archives is seriously flawed by the glue on the discs? It may have been an idea to allow the glue on the covers to set before inserting the CDs
After waiting 20 years it is not good enough to get the NYA CD box home and discover it is a piece of crap. Besides having a go and cleaning it yourself the only other option is to return it which means paying for postage that nobody will reimburse you for.
Is there any cleaner that you can recommend to remove this glue?
All this time (since 1988) and so little care. It is no wonder the big companies such as Warner's cannot sell stuff - the quality is not there.
I'm gonna be scarred for life everytime I open up an el cheapo cardboard CD cover..I shudder and shake at the though of fighting with the cover to get the CD out.
Neil's next album should be in a jewel box. May be less environmental friendly but definitely more consumer friendly. Maybe the next edition can use jewel boxes. After all the Buffalo Springfield box used jewel boxes. No wonder kids go for mp3s. Sound maybe crap but no troubles with glue.
If I am the first then brace yourselves for a whole load of people complaining. A landmark release and the record company clowns did not even care.
Feel so happy that I'm going to listen to Time Fades Away all afternoon.

In the spirit of straight forward information and truth that I have always tried to bring to you, Here is something to share.
Earlier today the following appeared on the Rust List.
Upon reading this post I personally got in touch with the individual and offered remedy to an unfortunate, isolated incident.
The facts are below and this matter is being looked into. Percy, this is not a matter of people not caring..has nothing to do with record company clowns. As I said, before, get a grip.
Personally, your vibe seems to be that of someone I encountered on another forum today.
Please read below:
I got my copy of the Archives on cd today, and imagine my horror when I pulled the first disc out to play in the car and I saw a splotch on the underside of the disc! I went back into the store and showed my dealer and he went in back
and got me another box set, and the second disc in the second box set had a flaw also. So we looked inside the cd packaging and there was a spot of glue inside to keep the middle spine together. Evidently they put the cd into the sleeve
before the glue dried. So my dealer let me look at all the discs in the 2 box sets and pick a set with the least problems. But it was a hassle! So watch out when you get your copy! Check the bottom of each disc carefully! I have not tried it yet, but maybe that stuff called "Goo-Gone" can remove the glue from the bottom of the discs.

As a funny aside: So, I read here that you had some drama with the Steve Hoffman Forum so I headed over there to read the backpages and was stunned to find out that one of the guys giving you grief was a very close friend of mine. Amazing. Looking back, it makes a LOT of sense considering all the arguments we had over the years! :) Anyway...I appreciate your efforts - you gave me some decent advice on how to get the best of my Blu-Ray NYA set. I believe in Team Neil!

Hey have you all noticed that one can see some future Archives set's songs in that Java presentation video? They printed out all of the volumes (the "analog version," as Neil calls it) then roll it out on stage, with close-ups of some of the discs. Maybe someone has studied this and already posted it on the intra-web, hell I dunno... I can barely read them but might try to study it more; there's a Neil Young and the Bluenotes disc list, below that CSNY (I assume around '88?) then Neil Young & The Restless below that, then the whole Freedom album... the Quicktime mp4 of course is not hi-res but much better than YouTube, so I bet a NY rarities freak could read some of the songs...

Something that I would love to hear in a future volume down the road would be a live, solo, acoustic recording of Cortez the Killer. Myself and a friend of mine were blown away by a version Cameron Crowe used in Almost Famous. It only lasted for a minute or two on screen sadly.

I'm sure you're familiar with BBC's Classic Albums series where they look at the recording of a classic album and interview everyone involved and show footage from the original sessions. An obvious candidate for this show would be Harvest, seeing as there's footage of the barn sessions and it is, indeed, a classic album. Has Neil ever considered this (or if he hasn't, maybe you should suggest it to him - seeing as he seems to be currently in a retrospective mood). Already a couple of people involved have since died so I think he should do it before it's too late.
One extra week to wait in the UK, this just encourages torrent downloading..............

As for the SH forum and such, try not to let it get to you. The Internet's full of anonymous bozos who have a loud bark but, in all likelihood, are spineless kittens in real life. Some places are worse than others. You just have to deal with it as best you can and remember that some people just weren't born with senses of tact and/or impulse control.
Either way, thanks for sticking it out around here. :) As somebody else said, it's imperative that artists reach out to fans these days. Knowing that one of Neil's crew members is in touch and being very helpful is very cool.

Archives Guy,thanks again for all your patience & help.A helmet is advisory to ward off some of the flack headed your way!However,most people are sensible & suitably enthused about this great project.
I've had the CD version since last Friday,and it rocks.Great sound,some wonderful disoveries,and an excellent overview of Neil's earlier years.Can't wait for the Blu Ray version to turn up.
As a matter of interest there was a very tiny,tiny, blob of glue on most of the discs.I carefully scraped off what I could, and there were no problems in playing the CDS.I must stress that overall,it is nicely packaged.I have no problem with the use of card sleeves.I sympathise if someone did experience any trouble.
Would someone be kind enough to send me a disc of the "hidden" tracks that are only on the DVD or Blu Ray version so my collection will be complete and I can put this mess to rest? Thanks jay
