1. When You Dance
2. Hey Hey My My
3. Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
4. Spirit Road
5. Pocohantas
6. Cortez The Killer
7. Cinnamon Girl
8. Mother Earth
9. Hit The Road
10.Needle & the Damage Done
11. Light A Candle
12. Lost In Space
13. Heart Of Gold
14. Old Man
15. Speakin' Out
16. Tonight's The Night
17. Cowgirl In The Sand
18. Get Behind The Wheel
19. Just Singing A Song
-------
encore
20. Rockin' In The Free World

Great new version of Pocahantas, with Chad doing a Native American tom-tom beat throughout, and a new arrangement of backing vocals from Anthony and Peggy.

Speakin' Out and Tonight's feature Neil at piano, Anthony handles the famous guitar solos in Speakin' and does a great job. The new album songs sound much stronger than the fall show I saw, b'ground vocals much richer, like the album versions. Light a Candle is acoustic, Lost In Space is wonderful, underappreciated gem. Free World features the false endings, great encore song.

submitted by Bob Mersereau, CBC New Brunswick, author, "The Top 100 Canadian Albums". Neil's #1 of course.

Cant wait to see Mr Young in Omaha On the 29th. The day after my 50th birthday. Reading some of these coments leads me to believe that a few folks out there just don't know how good it is to see an artist such as Neil. I would much rather hear what an artist wants to play the what I think he or she "should" play. I have not seen Mr Young since 2001( I think) with CSN in Kansas City and before that the Live Rust Tour in Denver. Rock on Neil. I guess "Walk On' would be too much to ask for in Omaha. Always considered that song the soundtrack of my life.

I don't wanna sound like a broken record but....it still amazes me when I read these concert reviews and set lists for each concert, just how much depth and diversity of songs are in Neil's repertoire.

The fact that he can vary the setlist for the next consecutive concert by adding or changing just a few songs..be it 'archival' or recent and another niche of his optimal fans gets a buzz of satisfaction.
Every fan has a song of Neil's that is close to their heart for whatever reason... some leave the concert buzzed and satisfied when their old fav' is surprisingly or unexpectingly thrown in...whilst some leave disappointed. For me, if every 4th song he played was a repeat of Cinnamon Girl(I luv that riff)I would be rapt!but, at the end of the day..a Neil young concert is the proverbial 'Lucky Dip'.

A Neil Young concert IS like 'a box of chocolates'..Ya just don't know what ya gunna get till ya open it!!

That's the attraction and mystique of the man!!
Long may you run Neil!

hey, just wondering for those that have been to the first couple shows, how early before the show should i arrive to get nice and close in the ga's???

I have to agree with dr. dip. I've had a personal request in mind everytime I've been to a Neil performance. Reecently, its been 'The Painter', (couldn't resist...) but you know what? I love chocolate, and it's hard to disappoint me when the box is opened. I've been watching the changes to this tours set list thinking things like - WOW, 'Words', 'Change Your Mind' can't wait! Then, they are not on the list anymore. But wait, look at this! 'Pocohantas' 'Cortez' ...awesome!

I hope you get what I'm saying, we are not likely going to see a single show of some 700 songs in a row.

Oh, and one other thing... all this talk about 'concept' albums??? I think there is a common thread within ever album Neil has released.

Can't wait, only hours to go before I get to take in another performance. Kingston, here I come!

the april 11th st. john show was a joke

neil's energy was amazing;in all the time i'd seen him,i've never seen him jump around like he was doing, kicking amps and swearin left and right during solos...

but the setlist is almost emberassing to recolect.

it wouldn't have been so bad if he had simply repeated the setlist from halifax's show from last november, but instead he cuts a bunch of those out and replaces them with For In The Road songs...St. john has the most Fork In The Road songs played during a concert since the tour began in Newfoundland, and has the less amount of new songs he's been playing recently (like a hurricane, change your mind, barstool blues, etc).

he played half the number of tonight's the night songs, left out both are you ready for the country? AND words (!)

i thought it was a pretty disapointing show

great to see him with that much energy, but it seemed mostly for nothing;the songs played and the length of the show did not deserve that much energy and showmanship

I hope he does the song that has the line....." Some are saints and some are jerks!" in it. Would seem appropriate!
Just can't remember the song title though.....hmmmm.

Poor Marc C, Neil played what he wanted to play during his concert, and not what you wanted him to play.

I saw Neil at Auburn Hills in December and was excited to see the changes for St Johns to his setlist... Change Your Mind, Barstool, Words... Yeah I know Neil enjoys playing whatever he wants, but at the JLC Wednesday I am really hoping for the St Johns and not the Saint John setlist!!

My partner and I saw Neil at ST John and were blown away by the quality of this concert. We have been fans since the early 70s and he just gets better all the time. We love that he stays current with his music and does not rest on the past to carry him through. He is an inspiration, as always, to us. Thank you Neil!!!!

I was at the show in Saint John and thoroughly enjoyed it, and have no complaints. I love my Neil!!! However in comparison with other shows, we did get fewer tunes.

A Neil concert may be like a box of chocolates and you never know quite what you're going to get, but a difference of 4 or 5 songs from one show to another is a lot when you are a big fan and you know your favorite was played the previous night, but not at your show.
I don't think it's fair to crap on someone who was looking forward to hearing the same things that other fans heard on the same tour.

I also heard that due to the noise by-law in Saint John the show may have had to end by 11:00....not sure if that is the case. (If it is it really should be looked at...)

In any event, I left with a big smile on my face and feel very fortunate that he made Saint John one of his stops. As you know...most bands don't come this far east, since apparently there is nothing past Ontario....

Keep on Rockin' Neil!! We love ya!!

To 4/14/2009 09:42:00 AM,

i can't see the noise curfew being a problem

the problem is,i tend to think neil's sunk into the mentality that small cities won't notice the difference in setlists. that the fasn here aren't in the loop with everything he's been up to or blogging on sites such as these; that we're lucky that he's playing here at all, which is true!

but i once read a statement by neil where he said that he played every show like it were his last, giving every show the same amount of energy,no matter where he was playing,or for how many people were present

i don't think that was the case on april 11th...if the st john show in new-brunswick would have been neil's last show ever,it would have been a sad way to end such an extraordinary career

the point is,neil was satisfied with a mediocre performance for a small scale city. check out the setlists before and after new-brunswick:all killer setlists with a bunch of rare gems and rubies in the dust
