This was so good I was sure it was lip-synched, which was a big dissapointment. But then it takes a very slight turn at the end away from exactly as on the recording, and my faith was restored. Go Springfield!

I believe the Palace performance is the Alternate MR. SOUL that Neil refers to in SHAKEY...there's another video of FWIW where Neil and Dewey are clowning-Neil ends up with a drumstick between his teeth...Neil should put THESE on the Archives DVDs !!

If memory serves correctly, this video of FWIW/Mr. Soul was featured in Journey Through the Past.

It is lip synced / a recording quite noticeably. However, during the performance Neil does turn on his guitar and starts playing for real, but the vocals and everything else are still the recording. That's the 60's for you, no one wanted to hear it live, they wanted it to hear it "right".

Okay, but who's the guy on sitting on the amp with his back to the camera inm the shadows?? Was it Bruce Palmer, or had he alreadty been deported back to Canada. That cheesy MC sure got a kick outta him since he goes up to him at the end of the song and shakes his hand.

According to http://www.psycho-jello.com/springfield/television.html, Springfield friend Dickie Davis pretended to play bass. Palmer had already been deported.
