Happy Valentine's Day to my Heart of Gold, Thrashette. I love you!

MP3: Neil Young :: "Heart of Gold" (Live at Massey Hall in Toronto, Canada on January 19, 1971, one of the first concert performances of the song.)

I want to live,
I want to give
I've been a miner for a heart of gold.
It's these expressions I never give
That keep me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
Keeps me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.

I've been to Hollywood
I've been to Redwood
I crossed the ocean for a heart of gold
I've been in my mind, it's such a fine line
That keeps me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
Keeps me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.

Keep me searching for a heart of gold
You keep me searching for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
I've been a miner for a heart of gold.

The very last line in that Piano version (which by the way is very nice) has a line from "A man needs a Maid" heh. I wonder why he mixed the two?

Dear Neil,

Just wanted to touch base, since your stay in Hawaii a while back. I think you were at the "Elvis House," but Sandi my sister gave us tickets from you to see your "Day After the Pink Hotel," concert at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel with the Blue Notes.

I liked that gig a great deal, walking around the Royal and seeing you but realizing we were going to meet you backstage after the concert. But apparently we were unable to do so, since you were not feeling up to it. But that's okay. Oh and it's a funny thing but Steve my High School friend, and my sister were visting you one day. What a coincidence. It seems like a ghost story but two people in my life know you well, but I am the musician who played your stuff all the way back in the 1960's and.....

Well it's all okay, and love all around us. Be happy! Leave a comment if you like at my blog.

I'm a huge fan of Neil Young, and on this Valentines Day I was glad to see you pay tribute to one of my favorite Neil Young songs, Heart of Gold. BTW, if any of you have not yet heard this song on the radio, I'd like to share it with you. It's a song I wrote to Neil Young when I learned that his father passed away just before Father's Day '05: Father's Day Song of Sympathy for Neil Young: words and music by Bruce L. Thiessen, aka Dr. BLT, (c)2005 http://www.drblt.com/music/ FathersDayYoung.mp3 and here's another one of the songs I've written that was influenced by the music of Neil Young: Shadow of the Man words and music by Bruce L. Thiessen, aka Dr. BLT (c)2006 http://www.drblt.com/music/ shadowof.mp3 HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, Neil and fans!
